Enema for gastrointestinal and obstipational problems

Did you know that 40% of the worldwide adult population suffers from gastrointestinal problems, and the prevalence of constipation in adults is estimated as 16% worldwide? Food is necessary for human survival, and to digest and make use of that food, our gastrointestinal tract (GIT) plays a significant role.

Hence, if our gastrointestinal system is not functioning well, the food will not be digested, leading to various problems. For example, food indigestion issues such as bloating and burning in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting,  abdominal pain, heartburn, constipation, diarrhea, and others.

If you are suffering from chronic constipation and have difficulty passing stools that appear to be very hard or dry, an enema can be the most effective option to relieve your discomfort. But an enema is an invasive procedure, and you must know its guidelines, precautions, techniques, and how the procedure is done safely before you proceed with this option.

There are multiple enema kits available. You can either visit the local store or order a kit online. We want to highlight a few kits that are popular and well-rated, to help you save time searching for the right one for your purpose.

What Is Enema?

Enemas are fluid injections administered into a person’s rectum and are used to cleanse and facilitate the emptying of your bowel (stomach). It has been widely used for years to treat chronic constipation and issues of the gastrointestinal tract. Enema can be given at the hospital by a medical expert or self-administered at home.

Enema can produce discomfort and should not be administered regularly. It is effective for chronic enema but cannot be a long-term solution. It is better to treat the underlying cause if you are surviving continuous constipation or abdominal problems.

Is Enema Done At The Hospital Or Home? Which Is More Effective?

Enema can be done both ways by a medical professional or at home. If you are at the hospital, you have medical professionals that perform the procedure carefully and are there to check for any complications or adverse effects.

On the other hand, enemas are also safe at home, but it is necessary to learn the procedure and techniques, use the right enema solution with sterilized tools, and ask your doctor if you can do it by yourself at home or not.

If you are unsure about anything, don’t perform it yourself but prefer going to the hospital to get it done by a medical professional.
